Whiting Bug Hotel

From unused items in our yard to a four-storey bug house.
Office employees and members of our Green Team stated that they would like to create a bug house to provide a home for insects, that will help to increase biodiversity, pollinate plants and prey on pests. So last month we took time away from our desks to install crates, wood, bark, and other items to keep these creatures happy in their new habitat.

As we were completing the house, we picked up some mulch from around the area and placed it on the top – within the mulch was a toad! We therefore named the bug house ‘Toad Hall’. It has had time to settle over the last 4 weeks and looking over it now, its full of different bugs. There is no sign of the toad currently but I’m sure that it is enjoying its new onsite restaurant!
