PFA Children Today Grand Canyon Challenge 2013

Our MD, Maurice Murphy, has just returned from a 10 day trial in the Grand Canyon as part of the PFA Children Today Challenge to win the prestigious Challenge Cup. One of 36 Children Today supporters, Maurice joined one of six teams captained by former professional football legends Lawrie Sanchez, Bob Bolder, Don Goodman, David Oldfield, Dave Beasant and Marco Gabbiadini.

During the trip each participant successfully completed a number of physical challenges including cycling, trekking and white water rafting, not to mention the ultimate test of the climb back out of the Canyon in 108 degree heat! The group camped out in the bottom of the Canyon for three nights. However, in the months leading up to the event each supporter had also taken on the personal challenge of raising thousands of pounds to help Children Today fund vitally needed equipment for disabled children living throughout the UK.

Maurice, whose team leader was the inspiring Don Goodman (ex West Brom and Wolves) was delighted  – and surprised! –  to be in the team that came second overall. Collectively the group raise in excess of £100,000 – a mammoth amount for this very worthy cause. Well done everyone!
