Three Peaks Challenge

An intrepid team from Whiting Landscape recently took on the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for wards 10 and 15 of the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Starting at Ben Nevis at 4.30 on Friday afternoon, the team completed the highest mountain in Scotland in just under 5 hours. Driving through the night to reach the base of Scafell Pike in the Lake District and beginning the ascent at 3.00 in the morning was a challenge in itself and only completed with the aide of head torches and plenty of energy drinks. Back in the minibus for 7.00 am the team headed off to attempt to complete the challenge by scaling the highest mountain in Wales. By this time it was looking a very tough task indeed and only a lot more energy drinks, copious amounts of deep heat and quite a few ibuprofen tablets could coax the tired legs to keep on going, however the team soldiered on with the first few completing the challenge in under 23 hours and the tired stragglers coming in at 23 hours 27 minutes.

It was a very tough challenge but the team were driven on knowing that they were raising money for a very worthwhile cause in the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. If you would like to make a donation to this fantastic cause then please follow this link to our Just Giving page.
